Donostia-San Sebastian, 17 May 2023. Registration for projects to be submitted to the third edition of the MUBIL Mobility Awards is now open, with a cash prize of up to 35,000 euros, the chance for participants to promote and boost their business development and the possibility of securing a physical space in the MUBIL Hub or in the BIC Gipuzkoa Incubator awaiting the prize winners. The awards are designed to identify and support entrepreneurial projects that contribute to the development of smart and sustainable mobility. In addition to a fixed amount of prize money, the winning initiatives will receive funding for their projects to be taken forward in collaboration with other players of the MUBIL Hub, which makes these awards particularly attractive for start-ups with a strong technological development component, infrastructure or industrial experience.
The MUBIL Mobility Awards are looking for international initiatives being taken forward in the field of smart and sustainable mobility.
In the opinion of Ane Insausti, General Manager of MUBIL Fundazioa, "the MUBIL Hub offers an ideal environment for developing innovative initiatives, where they can benefit from the opportunities and know-how of a hub that brings together benchmark companies and internationally recognised technology centres, amongst other players. At MUBIL, we naturally have an enormous interest in adding the most innovative projects in the field of smart and sustainable mobility to our hub".
Prizes
The idea behind the MUBIL Mobility Awards is to identify projects in high-impact technologies which are at the prototype phase and which are aligned with the MUBIL strategy focused on the categories of connected, autonomous, shared and electric mobility and related infrastructures.
Prizes will be awarded to two initiatives that present a minimum viable product and/or a model that solves the problem identified in the proposal. The first prize is worth up to 25,000 euros, while the second prize winner will receive up to 10,000 euros. Part of these amounts will be in the form of funding for technical development projects that the winners will undertake in collaboration with players in the MUBIL Hub.
In addition to the monetary prizes, both projects will be included in the MUBIL Hub with a space for a year at the MUBIL headquarters or in the BIC Gipuzkoa incubator to accelerate their business development. Furthermore, in addition to the benefits inherent to the award of publicity and greater project outreach, the winners will have a stand at next year's MUBIL Mobility Expo, an international trade fair due to hold its fourth edition in 2024.
The deadline for applications is 30 June. The finalists will be announced in mid-September and the winning companies will be revealed at the award ceremony on 26 October, where the finalist start-ups will have to defend their initiatives before a panel of experts of renowned experience in the sector.
